Films of the week
Surveillance (spelling?). David Lynch’s daughter’s comeback film, a thriller with Bill Pullman. Pretty good actually, i was surprised, it has hillbilly cops, a mystery to unravel and Mr Pullman is alright. Worth watching, ask Dave Dave as he downloads all new films and can make copies. I have also therefore unfortunately seen most of The Curios Case Of Benjamin Buttons wich made me fall asleep as it was soooooo boring. Special effects were good but Brad Pitt is now officially Tom Hanks.
Kings of The Road, Wim Wenders old-ish road movie set in Germany. Looks very good and has a good story despite not much talk at all. Two men randomly meet on the road and travels together as one of them is a traveling cinema machinist. The film is open for interpretation in many ways, especially Wenders use of the cinemas to make comments on film. Funny and sad with really good music of course.
Last one, Perdita Durango. Based on a book by the author who also wrote the book that Wild At Heart was based on (can’t remember his name-Barry Something?). Its as hard and as cool, set in Mexico and USA, around the border. There is Voodoo, guys with snake skin boots that has the snake head still attached, murder, rape, drugs, cops, romance (well kind of), chain steering wheel and the Spanish guy (forgive me, names are hopeless) from No Country for Old Men with a really amazing looking hair do. Not everyones cup of tea but i loved it.
